MEET THE WRITER
My interest for writing developed around the same time I learned to read. Since then, I have cultivated my passion by pursuing my Bachelor's Degree in Writing and Communication. My education taught me much about the rules of grammar, stylistic choices, and how to properly use citations. It was left up to me to channel creativity. My favorite genre to write, as well as read, is fiction, though I've been on a few real-world adventures which you can read about by clicking the link to a blog I maintained during my semester abroad.
PAST PROJECTS
MOCK NEWSLETTER
The Spring Issue: "A Season Celebrating Life"
I designed and wrote the entirety of this newsletter during a classroom assignment. We were tasked with finding an example of printed material to use as design inspiration while also writing authentic pieces dependent on personal interviews and information gathering. The information featured, including quotations, are factual.
AWARD-WINNING POETRY SUBMISSION
"La Sirene"
"La Sirene" was a poem inspired by my time abroad in France. It combined my fascination with mermaids with my love for the French language. It was submitted to Impressions Literary Magazine where it was awarded the "Best Poetry of 2018" Award.
BUDGET PROPOSAL
Co-authored during my time as Study Abroad Ambassador (SAA) Co-Chair
During my time as a SAA Co-Chair, I assisted with the transition of our group from being an interest group to a legitimate on-campus club. This transition allowed the us to continue to spread the mission of Study Abroad Ambassadors while working under an approved budget to purchase materials for tabling and marketing efforts.
UNDERGRADUATE THESIS RESEARCH PROJECT
My undergraduate thesis has been my longest personal research product to date. Within the time-span of three academic semesters, I chose to study the ficiticious mermaid as she relates to the modern world. I did this by tracing her origins, her transitions, and her purpose of existing in the present day.
